Biogel might be the perfect solution for improving the strength and condition of your nails. This cutting-edge product is becoming more and more well-liked because it can fortify natural nails and give nail extensions a strong foundation. Many people prefer biogel because it feels more natural and flexible than traditional acrylics.
A gel-based product called Biogel can be used to both strengthen natural nails and create exquisite extensions. Since it can be used on both natural nails and nail tips, it is well-liked for its adaptability and simplicity of application. This implies that you can have more fashionable nail art and stronger nails without sacrificing their longevity.
The health of nails is one of the main advantages of biogel. In comparison to other products, the gel is made to be less harmful, encouraging nail growth and minimizing breakage. With biogel, your natural nails are supported and given room to grow, whether your goal is to strengthen them or simply make them healthier overall.

What is biogel
Acrylic first appeared, but people started to treat it cautiously. Eventually, regular gel took its place. That it could not be eliminated by soaking was inappropriate. Then regular gel was replaced with biogel.
Biogel is a natural resin material that can be applied to any nail plate and has a liquid consistency prior to polymerization. It can be removed by soaking.
What the polymer is capable of holding:
- vitamins A, E and other groups;
- silk proteins;
- keratin.
Other ingredients required for nails are also added by manufacturers. This greatly raises the plate’s quality and aids in its growth and restoration.
How is it different from other coatings
Three things gel polish, shellac, and gel have in common: they are long-lasting, polymerize under a lamp, and work on nails of various lengths. Based on the characteristics, biogel and other coatings differ greatly from one another. These are entirely different materials. You can look at the table to perform a comparative study. Since gel polish and shellac are so similar, they will be included in the same column.
Biogel | Shellac, gel polish | Gel | |
Consistency before polymerization | liquid | liquid | thick |
Consistency after polymerization | flexible | flexible | hard |

Nail extension and strengthening
Biogel, which is most commonly used to strengthen nails, is best displayed in this version of the material. All of the manufacturer’s claims are met by it. The plate thickens, flaws are concealed, and even extremely thin nails that have suffered from careless removal or extension can be made to look attractive again. They frequently turn to biogel strengthening for this reason.
Regarding the extension itself—that is, the lengthening—this material is inappropriate. It is excessively pliable and mobile, and the artificially made edge will be extremely soft and painful to wear.
To give a specific nail shape and create a uniform manicure, apply biogel to the corners. Restoration work can also be done with this material. Polygel is a better option if you need to extend the plate. It is more durable, comprises gel mixed with acrylic powder, and enables the creation of an arch.
Biogel is also often used for nail lamination. The material is inexpensive to use, does its job well, and is kind to nails.
How much holds
Biogel coatings can be worn for two to three weeks. Since the end is sealed, it is crucial that you avoid cutting the free edge. If not, chips will start to show up on the tips, just like with gel polishes. Cutting your own before removal won’t work. Because of this, you shouldn’t initially paint over very long nails because they will grow another 3–5 mm in two to three weeks.
This coating is similar to other types in that it swings comfortably while being worn. A generous calculation of Biogel reveals a slight thickness, light weight, non-addictive nature, and a very low incidence of allergies.
There is information on biogel jars indicating that the substance does not impede nail growth. The plate is made up of keratinized cells, which are completely oxygen-free—this is marketing eloquence, in fact.
Advantages
There aren’t many long-lasting materials available to restore and strengthen the nail plate. Against this backdrop, biogel is distinctive and genuinely advantageous.
Benefits of biogel:
- The material is suitable for any nails: dry, thin, soft, damaged, long and short, with a curved surface. It allows you to get away from these problems.
- Aligns, thickens, restores the natural plate, helps to grow the length, correct the shape.
- Biogel can be used for feet. If you buy this material, then you do not have to look for a replacement, spend money and buy a regular gel or varnish.
- It looks natural, does not form a large thickness, no bumps, reliefs when growing.
- During work, no dust is formed, there are no unpleasant odors, in comparison with the previously popular acrylic. Clean and neat procedure.
- You can make various designs, including simply painting your nails with regular varnish.
It will take about 15 to 20 minutes on average to coat the base with biogel if you do not create a complex design. Neglected hands with overgrown cuticles and an old coating will require a little more time.
Disadvantages
There are hardly any situations where using strengthening biogel for nails is not appropriate. It is still possible for the material to cause allergies, despite popular belief. Rarely, the reaction happens to the composition’s additives rather than always to the polymer specifically. As a result, a product made by one manufacturer might be appropriate while one made by another might result in unpleasant side effects like peeling, itching, and skin redness.
Cons of using biogel for natural nails
- The material requires careful wearing, durability decreases with prolonged contact with water, household chemicals and other aggressive products. It does not like alcohol.
- Nails are not as strong and hard as when coated with acrylic, regular gel. With thinly applied layers, they can also break.
- The cost of the coating in the salon is high, you will have to visit the master 2 times a month, when with some other materials you can go up to four weeks.
Certain drawbacks are situational. For instance, a manicure using biogel can be completed at home as well as in a salon. You don’t need to take any special courses to learn how to do this; the process is very straightforward. Frequently, the method used to remove the coating causes an allergy rather than the coating itself, or the dispersion layer adhering to the cuticle during removal triggers a skin reaction. It’s crucial to move from the base to the tip with caution when doing this.
Types
- Basic. Transparent material, creates the effect of a natural plate with a light healthy shine. Excellent for treating and restoring damage.
- Colored biogel. It does not differ in properties from the basic type, can be used together with it, this option makes the manicure more interesting, is used for drawings and other designs.
- Royal Sealer. Often used as a top coat for French manicure. Contains whitening, yellowing substances. Transparent manicure retains an attractive appearance for a long time.
- Sculptural. In addition to natural resin, it contains shellac, opaque, used for designs and removing the free edge.
- With UV protection. In terms of properties, it does not differ from the classic transparent bio-coating for nails, but protects from the harmful effects of ultraviolet radiation. Can be used as a top coat.
Step-by-step instructions for strengthening nails
Myths about pregnancy, the day of the menstrual cycle, and other factors do not affect durability. There is no need to cut or grow the nails for the application of biogel nail treatment, which can be done on any kind of plate. The most important thing is to have all the tools and supplies ready in advance.
Necessary materials and tools
It’s necessary to dry polymer materials under a lamp. Fit for both LED and UV. It is recommended to use at least 36 W of power. If not, the gel won’t harden at all, the material will polymerize slowly, or the process might take a long time. We concur on the drying time based on the biogel packaging information. The procedure takes one to two minutes on average. For LED lamps with 48 W of power, 30 to 40 seconds is usually sufficient.
What you require for your job:
- biogel, the brands RuNail, TNL, IRISK, EL CORAZON have proven themselves well;
- buff for grinding;
- degreaser, the TNL brand is suitable, you can take Bluesky or any other manufacturer;
- file;
- primer, Bluesky and other brands listed above are suitable;
- antiseptic, you can take regular Miramistin;
- cuticle oil from any manufacturer;
- brush;
- napkins;
- top, it is advisable to take the same manufacturer that is used for the main coating.
Using the same top coat eliminates the need to file off the top layers and soaks the base when changing your manicure because biogel is a soluble material.
Preliminary preparation
The surface must be ready for medicinal biogel for nails, just like any other long-lasting coating. If not, it won’t hold, and you won’t be pleased with how neat the manicure looks. Work on a dry surface, avoid using water to soften the cuticle, or use specialized techniques.
How to correctly trim and file your nails:
- Remove the old coating, if present.
- Move back the cuticle with an orange stick. If necessary, trim with tweezers.
- Separate the pterygium, clean the side ridges from crusts and dirt.
- Give shape to the free edge, file, shorten the length, if necessary.
- Wash your hands with soap, wipe dry. We do not use any cream before strengthening.
Pterygium can be quickly and easily removed with this device, saving you time. However, it’s important to consider both your personal experience and the state of the natural plate.
Strengthening
Since they contain natural fat, you cannot use your fingers to check the drying quality at any stage. Instead, it is crucial to pay close attention to how clean the tools and materials are at all times. The above-discussed initial plate preparation is something you cannot overlook.
How to use biogel to strengthen nails:
- Treat your hands with an antiseptic. Miramistin or its cheap analogue Chlorhexidine is usually used.
- Go over all the nails with a buff. You don"t need to file anything, just remove the shiny layer from the plate. Pay attention to the areas adjacent to the cuticle and the tips.
- Wet a napkin in a degreasing agent, wipe the nails. Work with one hand for now.
- Lubricate the tips of the nails with a primer, this product is often not used.
- Sometimes biogel for nails is used with a base, but this is not necessary. Take a brush, collect the polymer, apply a thin layer to the degreased plate. Seal the end.
- Send the hand to the lamp, dry for 40 seconds to two minutes.
- Apply a second layer, dry again. Repeat if desired until you get the desired thickness. Or after two layers, apply a color coating, make a design.
- Finish strengthening with a top. Dry for 2-3 minutes. Wet a napkin in a degreaser, remove the sticky layer.
- All that remains is to lubricate the cuticle with oil, which will moisturize the skin around the nail, give a well-groomed look, emphasize the neatness of the manicure.
Applying layers thinly and fully drying each one are important. Applying the material thickly will cause it to become rubbery and cause tiny pits to form when pressed, preventing it from hardening even in 4-5 minutes.
A multipurpose nail product, Biogel is renowned for both its strength and health advantages. It promotes the general growth and health of nails in addition to strengthening and lengthening them. In contrast to conventional gels, biogel is fortified with nourishing components that, while preserving a natural appearance and feel, improve nail resilience and encourage healthier, longer nails.
Design options
A transparent coating gives the appearance of a naturally shining nail. It appears uninteresting. A straightforward varnish can be applied on top, but removal presents a challenge. Liquids are required, and they dissolve not just ordinary varnish but also the plate that was previously strengthened. This decreases the durability of the entire manicure and necessitates more frequent changes.
Which nail art works well with biogel?
-
French manicure, aka French. The ideal solution, especially when using a special coating with protection against yellowing.
How to remove
It is necessary to soak the coating. They frequently use regular nail polish remover for this, but investing in a specialized product is preferable. It doesn’t matter what brand you use—removers from TNL, De Lakrua, and Severina perform fantastic work with the material.
What further is required to eliminate the coating:
- cotton pads or napkins;
- orange sticks or pusher;
- foil or special caps, clothespins for fixation.
Premade foil pieces with a fixed napkin that have been moistened with the product are available for purchase. There are also smearing bags available for purchase.
How to get rid of the defense:
- Apply a special remedy for a cotton wool or piece of disk. You need to wet well, but the drops should not drain.
- Apply cotton wool to the nail plate, fix it for 15-25 minutes. The exact time depends on the coating itself and the liquid used. Can be periodically checked.
- Orange stick scrape the material, clean the nail. If the biogel leaves poorly, continue to smear.
Сто можно делать, ногда для ускорения процесса размачивания верхних слой слегка опиливаят. This should take no more than two minutes with a rough file.
Since polymer removal treatments are harsh and corrode the skin surrounding the nail, it is advised to pre-lubricate these areas with cream or oil.
Questions and answers
Why was the cabin’s fortification destroyed?
There are two possible explanations: either the coating is composed of regular gel or the master ran out of the soaking agent.
Why isn’t the coating drying in the lamp?
The cause could be obscured by subpar materials, technological flaws, or the lamp running out of energy; in any case, you should replace the gadget. Remember that a solid polymer is underneath the sticky layer that forms on top. Maybe the material has dried for a while; all that’s left to do is take off the dispersion plaque.
What caused the biogel to peel off?
Although there are numerous possible causes, technology violations are typically the root of the issue. Pieces of the coating cannot be repaired; the entire plate must be cleaned and recoated.
Is teak resin the actual basis of the biogel?
Although a lot of manufacturers make this claim, it’s possible that a lot of them use synthetic polymers with helpful additives.

Excellent article. I purchased a Madelon White Arctic single-phase biogel; could you please tell me? It states that it is for French as well as for strengthening and restoration. What is the best way to handle it in a single phase? Similar to a standard one-phase gel polish? And I only apply the smile line when I do a French manicure, strengthening only the free edge? And I use a standard gel polish base coat? or a biogel base as well.) Arctic was selected as the color. I appreciate your response in advance.

Elena, hello! We contacted a representative of the Madelon company and this is what we found out🙂 You can strengthen the free edge with Arctic single-phase biogel, but you will have to apply some product to the natural nail plate in any case. A regular base for gel polish will not be enough – its thickness will not be enough to match the applied layer of biogel. You can apply biogel of the desired shade, acrylic or polygel to the main area of the nail plate. But when using the last two products, the point of using biogel will be lost – treatment of the nail plate. Therefore, if biogel is used not only for decorative coating, but also for nail treatment, it is better to also lay the main part of the French with biogel of the desired shade, and the free edge – with Arctic biogel.

Hi there, Alina! Practically speaking, such an extension will be thicker and probably not adhere as well because of low adhesion. Biogel is an option for nail extensions; it has a good wear time and is less damaging to nails.
