Light eyebrows: who will suit them
Light eyebrows are a common issue for girls with fair hair, mostly those who are blonde. This includes the arches of their eyebrows because their hair lacks color. However, it also happens that other girls get lighter hair as well.
For instance, my eyebrows have been nearly white since birth, and my natural hair color is medium-blond. It occurs that light hair can grow on girls with dark hair, whether they have chestnut, dark blond, or even black hair.
The eyebrow arches in each of the aforementioned examples need to be altered because they don’t go with the hairstyle or overall appearance. However, light eyebrows work well for a number of people, and they don’t require any special care; sometimes a little styling and minimal correction will suffice.
Who looks good with light eyebrows?
- albino girls. A distinctive feature of such girls is the absence of an enzyme in the body responsible for pigmentation. They have light skin, hair, eyelashes. With light arches given to them by nature, they look the best and the maximum that can be done here is to adjust the shape and do styling if desired;
- natural blondes. The color of the eyebrow arches of natural blondes most often repeats the color of the hair or has a slightly reddish tint. Usually these are girls of the "spring" color type – light, light, therefore a natural shade, although not too expressive, looks appropriate and laconic on them.
- natural red-haired girls. These are girls of the "autumn" color type. Usually their face is covered with freckles, and their eyebrows are light, with a slight reddish tint. Of course, you can play with terracotta pigments here, but even in their natural form, the arches of such girls look laconic against the background of the whole image.
The eyes must be light as well—blue, green, gray, or light brown—when the arches are light; otherwise, the iris will "eat up" the eyebrows and the face will appear lost.
Naturally, every one of the aforementioned examples is highly subjective; after all, the ideal shade for brow arches is one that a person likes to wear regardless of current fashion trends.
Care for light eyebrows
Even light eyebrows, which are not very noticeable to others, need to be taken care of, if only to enhance the hair’s structure and add more density as needed.
Light hair maintenance techniques are essentially the same as for other types:
- periodic moisturizing with oils. Castor oil, osma, almond and coconut oils will help to cope with brittleness, dryness and hair loss, improve their structure and stimulate the growth of new hair;
- massage. Massage is necessary to improve blood flow, which has a positive effect on the condition of the hair and its growth. Massage is carried out with a brush or fingers – as you like;
- after dyeing or bleaching, periodic color renewal is added to the number of procedures. If dyeing was carried out, then it will have to be renewed every 2-3 weeks – this is how long the paint lasts. If the hairs were bleached, that is, deprived of their natural pigment, then the procedure will need to be repeated after 3-4 months – during this time, the hair on the eyebrow arches is completely renewed.
Bleaching and lightening
Bleached eyebrows became popular all over the world in the winter of 2019. The Prada fashion show set the trend, as models appeared with nearly undetectable eyebrow arches that blended in with their skin tones.
A short while later, the fashion publication Vogue made a bold declaration: invisibility has replaced the expressiveness and density of sable in fashion. It must be acknowledged that not many people chose to try, and bleaching is still utilized as a stage effect in fashion shows and movie sets.
If you choose to go with the current styles or simply prefer light eyebrows, use:
- professional products;
- homemade products – hydrogen peroxide, lemon juice.
Prior to performing the process, take into account the following:
- bleached hairs "erase" the facial expression;
- light eyebrows do not suit girls with rough features, a large chin, a wide nose;
- they do not go with girls of cold color types, especially winter, where the whole appearance has maximum contrasts;
- after bleaching, 3-4 months will be required to restore the previous look.
Professional products
The application method for professional lightening paint is the same as any other:
- the paint is mixed with oxide in the proportions specified by the manufacturer;
- applied to the hairs and kept for 2 to 15 minutes depending on the condition of the hair and the desired result;
- can be washed off with water.
Refectocil, for instance, sells a lightening paint. Paint tubes cost 350 rubles apiece. The kit does not include oxide.
For 850 rubles, a comparable product with no oxide in the kit is also offered by the Thuya brand.
Another choice is the Kodi brand, but here you can only lighten your hair by a maximum of four tones, so it’s not ideal for girls whose hair is naturally dark. Around 450 rubles is the price.
Additionally, a lightening kit with Estel oxide and cream will be included. Even though the product is marketed as "Eyebrow Lightening Cream," it is basically the same paint. The only noticeable difference is in the texture.
You can go five tones lighter with your eyebrows. Everything you need, including oxide, paint, a mixing container, and an application spatula, is included in the kit. Cost: 300–400 rubles.
Home remedies
Because the ingredients in homemade lightening products are highly allergenic and generally aggressive, using them should be done with extra caution. If the preparation and usage instructions are not followed, burning, irritation, and allergic reactions may occur.
Both lemon juice and hydrogen peroxide are used to make homemade lightening products.
In order to make a peroxide-based lightener, you’ll need:
- 200 ml of water;
- 0.5 teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide.
After combining the ingredients, the mixture is applied to the hairs and left on for 15 minutes. But keep in mind that all DIY techniques are erratic; using peroxide can have unintended consequences in addition to having a detrimental effect on skin health. Frequently, the hairs lighten and start to emit red or yellow light at the same time.
Lemon juice lighting is comparatively safer than peroxide lighting. One slice’s juice is extracted, put in a container, and left there for fifteen minutes. There won’t be lightning instantly; the process needs to be done again every three days.
Because of the high risk of side effects and unrealistic expectations, we strongly advise against conducting such experiments. To lighten your eyebrows, it is best to use products designed for that purpose or hire a brow artist to do the work.
How to make eyebrows darker
There are three ways to darken your eyebrows if they are naturally light but you want them to be more graphic or expressive:
- Decorative cosmetics;
- Eyebrow dyeing with paint;
- Tattooing.
Regardless of the technique, it’s critical to consider the color type and appearance characteristics when selecting the color of one’s future eyebrows.
- for girls with the color type "spring" and "autumn" the eyebrow arches should have a warm undertone. Brown, brown-beige, sometimes brown-gold colors are suitable.
- for "winter" and "summer" – brown-gray, taupe and other cold shades.
When it comes to color intensity, it is advised that fair-haired girls avoid making their eyebrows more than two tones darker than their hair, and red-haired girls should avoid making their eyebrows too dark—a slight darkening is sufficient.
Since you most likely have light or reddish hair, the key when coloring light hair is to avoid going too dark; dark eyebrows will look unsuitable.
Decorative cosmetics
You can use the following to darken your eyebrows:
Although it has a different texture, eyebrow mascara is available in the same format as regular mascara. Because it is only applied to the hairs, it is not appropriate for sparse eyebrows, where mascara is not meant to be used to fill in the gaps for uniformity. Its easy hair fixation function is in addition to its coloring effect.
Ash Blond mascara from NYX is a good choice for fair-haired girls and blondes.
Girls with red hair can try this same product if their hair is light and does not turn copper.
For eyebrow design, a pencil is the most widely used and well-liked tool among females. Ideal for shading as well as contouring. The best eyebrows are those painted using a stroke technique, which simulates hairs growing out of gaps.
We suggest having a closer look at the Anastasia Beverly Hills brand if you’re a blonde or fair-haired girl who wants to darken your eyebrows a bit and give your face more expression. There are 12 different shades available, including Blond, which is a warm beige-brown.
Girls with red hair that have light hair that has a reddish tint at first will enjoy the Colourpop Brow Pencil in the shade Honey Blonde.
The key is to select the appropriate shade so that you can achieve a smooth, highly natural color using the shadows. However, drawing the contour becomes more difficult; if you must draw the borders, it is preferable to use both the pencil and the shadows.
The shade 01 of the KIKI brand features a double shadow palette with brown and light brown hues. They work on red and blonde hair alike.
Pomade is a creamy hair color and straightening agent. Using an angled brush, apply. ideal for light, sparse eyebrows and gives you the option to go natural with color.
An extensive range of shades from the brand Anastasia Beverly Hills, which was previously mentioned. Blond and taupe are the best colors to darken.
You can also add visual thickness to your eyebrow arches by using styling gels in your makeup to fix the hairs in the desired position.
Dyeing with paint
Unlike ornamental cosmetics, dye has a longer-lasting effect. You won’t need to touch up anything for two to three weeks—just style. For dying, specialized industrial paints are utilized. It is preferable to complete the process in the brow artist’s workspace because errors in the dye’s mixing and application processes could have unanticipated consequences.
Given that fair-haired, red-haired, and fair-haired girls are more likely to have light eyebrows, the following paint colors are a small selection for them:
- Levissime in shade 7.7. Light brown dye with a warm undertone. To adjust the temperature, you can add a little graphite shade and give the color a cool tone.
- Thuya – shade Light Brown. Also initially warm.
- Bronsun No. 5 – light brown.
It is best to get in touch with an eyebrow artist if you want to drastically alter the color and don’t know how to color. They can mix the dyes precisely to achieve the desired color temperature and help you get the most natural-looking result.
Henna is also used to color light eyebrows in addition to paint. It can be natural, so it doesn’t harm the hair as much as paints do. There are some subtleties in blending the composition and application, but the technology of the work is nearly identical to that of paint. The top three henna brands are Sexy Brow Henna, CC Brow, and Brow Xenna. Their goods have the purest color possible with no needless undertones of green, purple, or intense red.
Permanent makeup
In contrast to simple coloring, permanent makeup involves introducing pigment into the skin’s superficial layers to produce a long-lasting effect. The outcome typically lasts between one and one and a half years, at which point another procedure is needed.
Out of all the methods, the following works well for light eyebrow correction:
- fade. The master imitates hairs with the help of a special device, which allows you to add visual density, as well as darken the eyebrow arches;
- watercolor – a combination of shading and hair technique. The pigment is introduced to a minimum depth, so after the procedure there is a fairly easy rehabilitation period and a natural result;
- nanospraying – the introduction of pigment in small dots, with the result in the form of eyebrow arches tinted with shadows.
Since it will be difficult to alter or correct anything after the procedure, we advise you to "estimate" how the final image will look before getting tattooed using decorative cosmetics.
Light eyebrows in men: what to do
Men rarely have light eyebrows because they do not have enough of the pigment-forming enzyme or its activity. When we say "light eyebrows in a man," we mean that they are not as dark as they usually are.
Light hairs on the arches of the eyebrows are typically found on blondes, but even in this instance, the hairs have enough pigment to show clearly on the face. Paint is used for darkening if they still stand out too much against the hair color or don’t sufficiently accentuate the face’s masculinity. Women no longer have access to the other options.
- 99% of men in life will not agree to draw something with a pencil or shadows every morning – firstly, it contradicts their internal principles, secondly – it takes a lot of time;
- Approximately the same percentage will refuse permanent makeup. Here the main reason is the ideal result, but a man should remain slightly careless even after visiting an eyebrow artist.
Coloring is the only remaining option because it is the best and helps achieve a natural, unimpressive result. Men with extremely light or sparse eyebrows are an exception; in these cases, coloring is not appropriate and eyebrows can only be added permanently.
