Men have started to focus more on grooming in recent years, and maintaining healthy eyebrows has become a crucial component of that regimen. A man’s facial features can be enhanced by well-groomed eyebrows, giving him a more polished and self-assured appearance.
Refinement of the natural shape to fit the face is what’s meant by "eyebrow correction," rather than a drastic alteration. Trimming, tweezing, and maintaining the brows are easy yet effective ways to achieve a noticeable change without looking too done.
Maintaining eyebrow health is equally as crucial as adjusting them. Frequent care keeps them neat and healthy, preventing problems like overgrowth and ingrown hairs. Taking care of your eyebrows is a simple yet effective way for men to improve their grooming routine.

Eyebrow shapes for men
Men’s and women’s eyebrows have distinct shapes, both naturally and after modeling. Typically, they have one of the following three shapes:
To a lesser or greater extent, some men’s eyebrows grow together at the nose bridge, which also needs to be corrected.
Compared to women, the stronger half has a far smaller selection of shapes to choose from. Typically, one of three is selected:
- straight – the beginning, rise and tip are on the same line;
- curved – the rise is higher than the tip and the beginning;
- arched – the eyebrow smoothly passes from the beginning to the rise and then also smoothly decreases to the tip.
Whichever form is selected, men’s eyebrows shouldn’t have:
- an overly expressive rise;
- a narrowed, deliberately highlighted tip;
- clear boundaries.
All of this will make them seem fake, and the master’s primary responsibility when working with male clients is to perform the procedure in a way that minimizes any obviousness.
The client’s appearance and unique facial features determine the best way to shape and adjust their eyebrows:
- curved shapes are appropriate for a round face – they add expressiveness;
- a diamond-shaped face is complemented by straight brow arches, and the slightest bends are strictly prohibited – they will emphasize the angularity;
- if the face is elongated, play with the width. To balance the upper and lower parts of the face and visually reduce it, make wide eyebrows;
- squares and rectangles go well with arched eyebrows.
Correction
We recommend that eyebrow artists become knowledgeable about working with men’s eyebrows because the process for correcting them is different from that of women’s. Both the psychological aspect and the technical aspects of the work are covered in the training.
Three steps are involved in correction:
- Choosing a shape in accordance with the features of the face;
- Shortening long, protruding hairs is optional;
- Removal of excess hair.
Shape
Similar to women’s eyebrows, markings should be made before tampering with the hair’s natural arrangement. Finding the beginning, the rise, and the tip are the three primary points that need to be marked.
The simplest pencil method allows you to make marks without the need for extra tools like a compass or thread.
The three points’ positions are established in the same manner as when creating a female shape:
- the beginning of the eyebrow lies on the line going from the wing of the nose, through the inner corner of the eye;
- the rise – from the wing of the nose through the edge of the iris;
- the tip – from the wing through the outer corner of the eye.
Once the points are established, use a thin line to indicate the boundaries. This serves as both a client guide and a suggestion for shaving hair.
I am aware that a lot of eyebrow stylists work "by eye" and don’t mark their work when doing men’s eyebrows. Beginners should avoid using this method as there is a high risk of removing the incorrect hair and creating eyebrow arches that are unflattering on a man’s face.
Shortening
Although they occasionally advise cutting hair short after shaping it correctly, we do not advise this for novices. Long hairs can cause the hairs that were necessary to create a laconic image to be removed and distort the overall image.
How to reduce eyebrow length:
- with regular cosmetic scissors;
- with special scissors – there is a comb on one end of the scissors;
- with a trimmer.
Use standard cosmetic scissors to trim any lone, long hairs, making sure to align their length with the main eyebrows. It is preferable to use a trimmer or scissors along with a comb when cutting off a significant portion of hair. To avoid confusing the purpose of the attachments and instructions, carefully read them before using a trimmer.
Removing excess hairs
Now that we know how to cut, let’s move on to shaping and trimming extra hair.
The three methods for correcting a man’s eyebrows are the same as those for women:
Although trimmers are also an option, we advise novices to use controlled instruments like wax or tweezers. Combining techniques and threading with tweezers allows you to rapidly eliminate the majority of the excess material and then target trouble spots.
Four zones are involved in the shape correction process:
- Bridge of the nose. Here, hair is removed from the bridge of the nose, and the beginning of the eyebrow is corrected. The bridge of the nose can be treated with wax or thread, but it is better to correct the beginning with tweezers;
- The area above the eyelid – men usually have little excess hair here – you will need to clean it up a little;
- The area above the brow arches. You should not get too carried away with correcting the upper border. It is recommended to interfere with hair growth here only in cases where a radical change in shape is needed;
- Working with density. Men often have thick eyebrows that are difficult to style and always look sloppy. The situation can be corrected by thinning with tweezers. When thinning, work carefully and more often depart from the client of the client and look at the result from the side. If you get carried away, you can create "bald spots".
It’s a common misconception that men can take criticism and pain better than women, but the reality is often quite different. A strong half finds it difficult to deal with beauty processes, even with their high testosterone levels, which aid in pain management. Men’s hair is also typically thicker and rougher in structure, making its removal slightly more painful.
Coloring
Men’s bruvy staining is an optional procedure; not everyone requires it. The primary indicator for coloring is a more than one-ton difference in the color of the hair and eyebrows. In other words, a brunette man with light-blond eyebrows or blond hair will have a blond eyebrow arc.
Men can color their hair just like women do, but in this instance, it’s crucial to get the exact tone right because if you don’t, your eyebrows will stand out and seem fake. Pay close attention to the dye’s instructions and stick to the holding time.
Remember to get ready for coloring before using the dye:
- Cleanse the skin and hairs;
- Scrub the skin;
- Degrease.
Apply the paint next, paying more attention to the hairs than the skin when coloring them.
Male eyebrow care
Again for psychological reasons, acclimating male clients to eyebrow care will be more challenging. It is crucial to clarify the necessity of this action so that, upon leaving the office, he complies with the advice. Because most men are pragmatists by nature, the eyebrow artist must keep this in mind while creating their designs. Men value logic in everything they do.
Men’s health services consist of:
- daily combing of eyebrows with a brush. Simple manipulation will help to avoid shagginess and negligence and maintain a well-groomed appearance;
- moisturizing with oils. Castor oil, Usma oil or burdock oil will help make the hairs more pliable, make them easier to style and improve their structure. You can also use ready-made products – from DNC, Brow Xenna, Lovely;
- removal of unwanted hairs. Single hairs that have grown between visits to the master can be removed independently with tweezers or a trimmer.
Men don’t need special products; all eyebrow care products sold in stores are oil-based and work well for both sexes.
Psychology of the eyebrow artist"s work with men
Although male grooming is becoming more popular in Russia, men still find aesthetic procedures uncomfortable.
A man feels uneasy in the eyebrow artist’s office because of the following procedure:
- infringes on his masculinity. Here the thought flashes in the head that a visit to the salon is an exclusively female activity, which means that, sitting in the eyebrow artist"s chair, he undergoes a female procedure;
- causes pain. Yes, the already mentioned testosterone increases the pain threshold, but in the case of hair removal this definitely does not work. And do not forget about the structure of the hair – this affects the sensations;
- is carried out using tools. When at eye level there are tweezers, then scissors, then a trimmer, it becomes uneasy. Women are already accustomed to manipulations of this kind, but for men it is a novelty.
How a master ought to act to soothe a client:
- don"t show that men in the office are a rare phenomenon. Even if this is the second male client in the last 5 years, do not show it and certainly do not say it. With these arguments you will only root the opinion that the man is doing something wrong – after all, others do not go, and therefore he does not need to;
- act confidently. When there are scissors next to your eyes, held by shaking hands – the fear of instruments only intensifies;
- listen to the client. In general, it is necessary to be able to hear the person sitting in the chair regardless of gender, but in the case of men this is especially important.
And never forget that a man sitting in a chair does not represent a UFO landing or the opening of Syktyvkar’s Central Department Store. It is unnecessary to be shocked by what is happening, let alone to demonstrate to a man that it is something extraordinary and one-of-a-kind. Men need a different approach, but they are the same clients with the same eyebrows.
Questions
Do men get microblading done?
Males can get tattoos regardless of their gender, with the exception of conditions pertaining to the skin and body. However, microblading is not popular among the stronger half because few men will consent to a session. The only exception are men with thin, light eyebrows who have trouble with coloring them.
How long do men’s correctional results last?
Women’s body and facial hair grows faster than men’s, so after two to three weeks, repeated correction is usually necessary. However, the important factor in this case is not gender but rather the features of the body, such as the hormone levels, vitamin balance, and hair follicle activity.
