How to dye eyebrows with paint

Enhancing your natural beauty can be achieved by dying your eyebrows. It helps define your eyebrows, giving them a more defined, polished appearance. You’re in the right place if you’ve ever wondered how to accomplish it at home.

The first step to getting the ideal look is selecting the appropriate eyebrow dye. You can choose a shade that complements your skin tone and hair color from the variety of options available. It’s critical to use eyebrow-specific dye in order to minimize irritation and achieve the best possible results.

Once you’ve selected your dye, the procedure is quite easy. It only takes a little time and a few simple tools to achieve gorgeously colored eyebrows. From the comfort of your own home, you can achieve a professional-looking finish with the help of this step-by-step guide.

Basic rules

Paint-based eyebrow coloring involves applying a specific type of dye to the hairs to achieve the desired color.

There are four main stages to the procedure, which involves more than just applying the dye:

  1. Cleansing – the quality of cleansing will determine how well the dye "grabs";
  2. Creating a sketch – a schematic drawing of future eyebrows;
  3. Correction;
  4. Application of the dye.

Every stage has unique qualities, which we shall discuss below.

General guidelines for eyebrow coloring:

  • do the dyeing in disposable gloves. This way you will protect your hands from the effects of the dye, and also make the procedure hygienic for the client;
  • wear a mask. Due to the specifics of the work, you have to constantly be near the client"s face. The mask will contain some of the bacteria and protect the client from small particles of saliva;
  • follow the instructions for the dye. Below we have described general recommendations for coloring, but for different colors this plan will need to be adjusted – hold for more or less time, change proportions;
  • interact with the client – find out what shape and color she would like to see, what width to make. This way you will protect yourself from dissatisfaction with the result.

Paint-dying your eyebrows is an easy and efficient way to improve your appearance by making your brows appear fuller and more defined. You can get results at home that look professional by using the right products and methods. You can easily achieve gorgeous, natural-looking brows by following this guide, which will walk you through the process of selecting the appropriate dye, priming your eyebrows, and carefully applying the paint.

Cleansing

The skin’s level of cleanliness affects how the paint adheres and absorbs. The skin must be cleaned of makeup, debris, and minor peeling, and the eyebrows must be cleared of tiny dust particles.

To complete the cleaning, you’ll need:

  • a product for removing decorative cosmetics – lotion, micellar water;
  • eyebrow shampoo;
  • a degreaser;
  • brush.

Decorative cosmetics can be taken off with micellar water or lotion. For eyebrows, you can use either standard or customized micellar water. The fact that it doesn’t dry out skin issues is crucial. Shik has a line of lotions.

It’s a special shampoo you need. It foams less and is easier to remove than the standard one. There’s shampoo from the brands Brow Xenna, CC Brow, and Zola.

You can use degreasing lotion, specialized degreaser, or water-based chlorhexidine. The lotion from Shik is available, and the degreaser is sold under the Zola brand.

Let’s now tackle the cleaning process:

  1. Damp a cotton pad with micellar water or lotion and lightly but firmly brush your eyebrows. At this stage, it is important to remove most of the makeup and small dust particles;
  2. Apply a small amount of shampoo to your eyebrows and lather it up with a brush. Make combing movements to pay attention to each hair;
  3. Remove the shampoo with a cotton pad soaked in water;
  4. The last step is to wipe your eyebrows with a cotton pad soaked in a degreaser or lotion.

Creating a sketch

You’ll need the following to outline your future eyebrow:

  • a powder or white eyebrow pencil;
  • a straight flat brush;
  • cotton pad soaked in micellar water.

The base, rise, and tail are the three primary points that need to be marked in order to create a future eyebrow.

  1. Place the pencil to the wing of the nose in the direction of the beginning of the eyebrow through the inner corner of the eye. Put a dot – this will be the beginning;
  2. Move the pencil towards the tail so that its edge goes through the edge of the iris of the eye. Note that the client should look strictly straight, and the required side of the iris is closer to the temple. Putting a dot – this is the rise;
  3. Move the pencil lower so that one edge touches the wing of the nose and goes through the inner corner of the eye. This will be the end.

We went into more detail and included diagrams in a different article about building the shape, which we will definitely check out.

There are five reference points that you must now enter:

  1. The first one determines the height of the eyebrow. Put it at the maximum height of hair growth at the bridge of the nose;
  2. Depending on the desired width, put the lower point. Do not lower it too much, as the eyebrows will seem overhanging;
  3. The third point is the upper one on the rise. It determines how steep the arch will be. The top point of the arch cannot be lower than the top point of the base;
  4. Fourth – the lower part of the arch. Place the dot so that the body of the eyebrow at the point of rise is slightly narrower than the base. Don"t overdo it – the eyebrows should gradually taper towards the tail;
  5. Well, the last dot is the end point. Place it at the same level as the lower point of the base.

You can now proceed to making connections:

  1. Pull the skin above the eyebrow and connect the lower dots – the base, arch, tail, and then the upper ones with a sharpened powder or white pencil;
  2. Wet the brush on a cotton pad with micellar water and carefully clean the line so that it becomes perfectly even and thin. Hold the brush at an angle of 45 degrees. Note that if you clean the pencil from the inside of the shape, the eyebrows will be wider, and if from the outside – narrower. Constantly wipe the brush on a cotton pad to remove the pencil – this way the work will be cleaner;
  3. Repeat the same thing on the second eyebrow.

Lifehack: Use a pencil to apply the tip to the dot that has already been placed perpendicular to the nose bridge in order to transfer the dots symmetrically while maintaining the width of the base, rise, and tail. The eyebrows will be the same height in this manner.

Potential challenges at this point:

  • overgrown eyebrows do not allow you to erase the pencil thinly. First draw thick lines, then make corrections and only after that start correcting the thickness of the pencil line;
  • the pencil does not draw. Wet the lead on a cotton pad with micellar water.

Correction

After the future shape has been sketched out and the client is happy with it, eyebrow correction is the process of shaving off extra hair.

You won’t be able to replace hairs if you remove them quickly.

One method of making corrections is:

  • tweezers;
  • thread for threading;
  • wax.

You must make a decision based on the client’s hair and your personal habits.

  • Wax is good for removing vellus hairs from the bridge of the nose and the area under the eyebrow;
  • Tweezers are more effective for coarse hair or reducing density, threading is universal, but requires some skill.

Let’s look at the traditional tweezers correction, which is the most common:

  1. Bring the tweezers to the hair, placing the closing part of the hollow to the skin. The tweezers should lie down;
  2. Start pulling the hair in the direction it grows;
  3. Remove all the hairs that go beyond the markings.

Black dots on the skin are hairs that have not yet begun to sprout. It is preferable to wait until they hatch and are at least 1 mm long rather than to touch them, as it is nearly impossible to remove them with tweezers.

If required, clean the pencil to a thin line after making the correction.

Applying the paint

Now that all the groundwork has been completed, the most crucial stage is to apply the dye. Pick a paint color that complements your client’s skin tone, hair color, and personal preferences.

  1. Squeeze 1 cm of paint into a container and add an oxidizer according to the instructions. If you need to mix two paints to remove the undertone, then first mix the dyes with each other and only then add the oxidizer;
  2. Mix the paint until smooth so that there are no lumps. This can be done manually with a brush or a special mixer;
  3. With an angled brush, pick up a little dye and from the bottom up, without touching the pencil outline, distribute the paint in a thin, almost transparent layer to the center;
  4. After the paint is applied to the lower part, pick up the dye again and paint the upper part from top to bottom to the center;
  5. After applying the first layer, wet a straight brush with micellar water and adjust the base – adjust the tilt or make a straight line. You can also adjust the outline if the paint goes beyond the line somewhere;
  6. Repeat the application to the second eyebrow.

It is advised to follow the steps one at a time rather than starting with the first eyebrow and working your way down to the second. You will save time in this manner.

Following the application of the first layer to the second eyebrow:

  1. Pick up some paint on the brush and apply another layer to the eyebrow that you did first. This will be a duplicate layer that will cover bald spots, if they were somewhere, and make the coloring uniform;
  2. Minutes after applying the duplicate layer, take a brush brush and dash the part of the paint from the upper part of the base. Remove combed paint from the skin with a cotton wool. This step is needed so that the beginning is not too bright;
  3. 3-5 minutes after work by Yershik, finally killing the dye from the base. To do this, use a cotton wool moistened with water. Removing paint, make tightening movements towards lifting right on the hairs. This will avoid sharp color transitions;
  4. Immediately after the previous step, you can apply a duplicate layer to the second eyebrow and also, having waited for 1 minute, comb the paint from the base with a brush;
  5. After 3-5 minutes, the dye from the beginning of the second eyebrow completely remove the cotton wool, and from the first remove the dye at all. This is done using a cotton pad moistened with ordinary water.

If an adjustment is required, you have time before the second eyebrow is painted. At this point, you can use wax to remove vellus hair from the nose bridge or pluck any additional hairs that protrude past the contour.

When using wax for correction, it is essential to cleanse the skin with mycelium water or lotion prior to application. Following the procedure, apply a calming cream.

  1. About 5 minutes after you removed the dye from the first eyebrow, repeat the procedure for the second – moisten a cotton pad with water and remove the paint;
  2. With the help of soap or wax, put the hairs using a brush brush.

Ten to twenty minutes are taken out of the initial application in total. When you alternate working on two sides at once, keep this in mind.

Contraindications

  • eye diseases in the exacerbation stage. Paint is a far from a useful composition that exudes ammonia vapors and its derivatives. This can aggravate the condition of the eye;
  • increased skin sensitivity and tendency to allergies. Relative contraindication – if such a client comes, first conduct a test for allergies on the elbow bend. It is recommended that each new visitor do the test;
  • skin diseases – dermatitis, psoriasis, fungal infection. If any of these diseases manifests itself on the face, it is recommended to temporarily abandon dyeing;
  • open wounds and abrasions, as well as living scars at the site of dyeing. Aggressive composition of the paint will cause discomfort and affect the speed of healing.
