Requirements for disinfection in solariums

Disinfection is essential to preserving a safe and clean atmosphere in solariums. Similar to any setting used for beauty treatments, regular cleaning procedures aid in limiting the growth of germs and viruses, guaranteeing each client’s health. However, precisely what are the essential conditions for disinfecting solariums effectively?

The most important thing to remember is to always disinfect any surface that comes into contact with customers. Chairs, tanning beds, and other equipment fall under this category. Door handles and armrests are examples of high-touch areas that require extra care because they are frequently touched. Crucial elements in this process include using the appropriate disinfectants and adhering to the usage instructions provided by the manufacturer.

The appropriate cleaning schedule is another crucial element. To guarantee that every client begins with a clean and hygienic environment, disinfection should be done both before and after each use. Deep cleanings on a regular basis are also required to address less touched but still germ-filled areas.

Finally, employee training is essential. Everyone who works in the solarium needs to be aware of the importance of upholding strict hygiene standards and the procedures for disinfection. Sunrooms can offer a secure and enjoyable experience for all individuals when the appropriate procedures are followed.

Requirement Description
Regular Cleaning Disinfect surfaces after each use to prevent the spread of germs.
Proper Ventilation Ensure good airflow to reduce the risk of airborne contamination.
Use of Approved Disinfectants Only use disinfectants that are proven effective against bacteria and viruses.
Staff Training Ensure that all staff are trained in proper disinfection procedures.
Safe Waste Disposal Dispose of contaminated materials in accordance with local health regulations.

SanPiN requirements

  1. All devices, including the units themselves, must have permitting documents – a technical passport, Russian-language instructions, as well as a certificate of conformity – it confirms safety;
  2. In a beauty salon, the operator"s area is combined with a meeting place for guests. If there are no other services in the salon, there must be a separate room. It is important that the client should not have access to the remote control and the ability to arbitrarily turn off and control the session;
  3. The lamps should be replaced immediately after the required hours have been exhausted. Information about the remaining number of hours is publicly available, where every client can see it;
  4. After each client, the cabin is disinfected;
  5. The walls, floor and other surfaces must be made of washable materials that are resistant to disinfection with disinfectants.

Only solariums used as standalone instant tanning rooms or as an integral part of beauty salons are subject to all of the requirements outlined in the article. The SanPiN guidelines for medical institutions must be followed by solariums housed within preventive and sanatorium organizations.

Ensuring adequate disinfection is essential in any solarium to guarantee a hygienic and safe experience for all users. Maintaining a healthy environment and halting the spread of infections can be achieved through routinely cleaning and sanitizing surfaces and equipment. Solarium operators can improve the overall quality of their service and safeguard their customers from potential health risks by adhering to strict disinfection protocols.

Disinfection

Which parts of the solarium equipment need to be cleaned is not made clear by SanPiN. It simply says that surfaces that the client has come into contact with in any way need to be treated.

Therefore, following each client’s submission to:

  • inner surface of the cabin – walls, floor and ceiling;
  • handles and handrails.

Sturdy acrylic is used to make the frame. Acrylic is unpredictable when it comes to disinfectants, even with its good strength indicators.

The subsequent factors adversely impact the state of acrylic glass:

Disinfectants that do not contain these ingredients are therefore used for disinfection. Among them is the "Septolite" product.

Surfaces are disinfected by wiping them down or misting them with a working solution. In the case of the same "Septolite," it needs to be applied to the surface for 30 minutes after being diluted to a 0.5% concentration. To get rid of any product residue, all surfaces are cleaned and dampened with a clean cloth after the exposure period has passed.

The well-known "Alaminol" is applied to the skin for 15 minutes after being diluted to a 3% solution. The surfaces are also cleaned with a moist cloth after being exposed to a disinfectant.

Other, more recent disinfectants, like Anolyte, are also an option. The benefits of the new disinfectants include their relative safety for workers because they are less harsh on the skin and contain fewer chemicals. However, even the safest product mandates the wearing of a mask and gloves.

Cleaning

Like other measures to adhere to the disinfection regime, cleaning in solariums is governed by SanPiN 2.1.2.2631-10.

  • wet cleaning in the solarium premises is carried out twice a day according to an internally approved schedule. The office where the instant tanning device is located, the meeting place for visitors, the bathroom and other premises are cleaned;
  • general cleaning is carried out at least once every 7 days. As part of a general cleaning, all surfaces, office equipment, furniture, shelves and niches are treated with disinfectants and detergents. You can use combined products that combine both functions;
  • as they become dirty, the ventilation holes of the solarium are also cleaned;
  • Be sure to wipe the solarium at the end of the working day after the last client.

Like in any beauty salon, all cleaning is done with designated equipment. The cabin should have its own container and spare rags or microfiber cloths that aren’t being used in other rooms.

A reminder for the client

When visiting a solarium, find out if the company offers the following services:

  • instructions for using the solarium;
  • exposure time depending on skin type;
  • mechanics of the effect of some cosmetics when exposed to UV rays. There must be information about how the effect of the solarium is enhanced or reduced by creams and lotions applied to the body. It is also reported about the need to use special creams to reduce the negative impact of ultraviolet radiation;
  • mandatory warning about the need for a 48-hour break between the first and second sessions;
  • requirements for consultation with a doctor regarding the presence of contraindications;
  • contraindications to the procedure – age under 18, melanoma, oncology, recent chemical peels and laser resurfacing, pregnancy;
  • the actual time of production of ultraviolet lamps. This factor affects the quality of the tan.

The following is given to the customer:

  • in vertical solariums – disposable slippers or a towel for the floor;
  • special glasses to protect the eyes from ultraviolet radiation;
  • access to the sink and toilet.

Cotton caps and stickini, or chest pads, are also provided at the owner’s discretion to protect hair. It is best to bring these consumables with you if they are not offered in the solarium, as this will shield the mammary glands and hair from harm.

The following useful advice is provided for visitors to solaries on the Rospotrebnadzor website:

  • on your first visit, consult with the administrator about the time of stay. Even if you have previously visited another solarium, check what time is recommended for your phototype. All tanning studios have different solariums with different lamp power;
  • do not take a shower with soapy substances before going. Soap destroys the protective layer of the skin, which makes the epidermis more susceptible to UV radiation;
  • after 30 years, do not sunbathe with open mammary glands. Use special stickini or a cotton bra;
  • cover your hair – under the influence of ultraviolet radiation, it becomes thinner and dries out;
  • cover tattoos, as radiation can change their color.

It is essential to keep solarium disinfection standards high in order to protect patrons’ health and safety. When people share tanning equipment, there can be a real risk of infections and skin conditions spreading. This can be avoided by following proper disinfection protocols. Maintaining a clean and hygienic environment where clients feel at ease and confident is just as important as keeping the equipment clean.

It is imperative to clean all surfaces and equipment thoroughly and on a regular basis. This entails adhering to a rigorous cleaning schedule and using the appropriate disinfectants. Control panels and tanning beds are examples of high-touch areas that require extra care because they are more likely to be contaminated. Furthermore, it is imperative that personnel receive adequate training on disinfection techniques to guarantee that standards are consistently met and that all parties are in agreement.

Using these cleaning procedures not only keeps customers safe but also enhances the perception of your solarium. Customers are more likely to come back to an establishment where they believe their well-being is valued. Therefore, allocating time and resources to uphold a clean and hygienic environment serves multiple purposes, including fostering trust and guaranteeing that everyone has a positive experience.
