About the brand
Professional grade eyebrow and lash dyes as well as at-home care cosmetics are available under the Levissime brand.
Nirvel Cosmetics, which has its own production in Spain, is the manufacturer of the products. The company was founded in 1979, and its formula and composition developers have 40 years of combined experience.
Every product produced under the Levissime brand is produced using state-of-the-art machinery and is of the highest caliber. More than 30 countries offer products, with the United States, France, and Great Britain among those with the highest standards for product quality and safety.
Benefits of paints from the manufacturer:
- complete with 1.8% soft oxide;
- hypoallergenic;
- affordable price – in retail stores the cost of one shade in a 15 ml package. from 315 rubles.
An additional and noteworthy benefit is the composition, which consists of components that are caring:
- hydrolyzed wheat proteins – proteins split into smaller molecules for easy penetration into the hair structure. In paint, they are used for fixation and color fastness, as well as moisturizing with a conditioner effect.
- Boswellia oil. Boswellia is a tree native to Africa and Asia. The plant has anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory effects. As part of the paint, it soothes the skin, and also relieves itching and burning.
The paint’s complete composition is as follows:
- water;
- glyceryl stearate Se is a natural emulsifier;
- cetearyl alcohol is a stabilizer and emulsifier. Safe if the product with its addition is used as intended;
- propylene glycol is a preservative, density regulator of the composition and a humectant. May cause an allergic reaction in case of individual intolerance, otherwise it is safe;
- ceteareth is a surfactant, in small quantities does not cause side effects. When the maximum dose is exceeded, it increases skin permeability;
- ethanolamine – in this case, ammonia substitute, which stimulates the eyebrow dyeing process. American scientists from the Cosmetic Safety Inspectorate (CIR) conducted a series of studies that showed that ethanolamine is not dangerous when used as intended. The main advantage of ethanolamine over ammonia is that it does not penetrate the skin as deeply due to the size of the molecule;
- methicone – hair conditioner. Can cause irritation when it comes into contact with mucous membranes;
- liquid paraffin – a synthetic component, softener and antistatic. Can clog pores, but on eyebrows this has practically no effect, but if you see such a component, say, in face cream, it is better to refuse to buy it;
- meadowfoam seed oil – moisturizes and nourishes the skin well. Meadowfoam is a herbaceous plant from North America;
- dipropylene glycol is a viscosity regulator, causes side effects when used for other purposes – irritation, itching;
- P-phenylenediamine is a very controversial component that stimulates the coloring process. It is dangerous when used on parts of the body with thin skin, such as lips, and can also cause allergic reactions and irritation of the respiratory tract;
- 4-amino-m-xerol is a coloring agent;
- hydrolyzed wheat proteins;
- SLS is an emulsifier and surfactant;
- erythorbic acid is a preservative and antioxidant. Safe if not used on mucous membranes;
- M-aminophenol is a dye;
- Tetrasodium EDTA is a component that enhances the penetration of other components into the skin. At high concentrations, it increases skin permeability;
- Boswellia oil;
- phenoxyethanol is a preservative;
- potassium sorbate is a preservative and antiseptic, safe;
- popyl, butyl, ethyl and methyl parabens are preservatives.
Given that we are talking about eyebrow dye, the composition is passable. There are a few contentious ingredients, like the same p-phenylenediamine, whose application is unclear, but overall, the paint’s composition is unambiguous.
The eyebrow and lash collection from the Levissim brand consists of:
- 5 shades of paint for eyebrows and eyelashes;
- oxide 1.8%;
- protective cream for the skin;
- remover for removing paint from the skin;
- lotion for removing makeup.
Let’s examine each category in isolation.
A variety of eyebrow paints and products from Levissime are well known for their high caliber and potency. The main characteristics of these products, such as their color selection, ease of application, and durability, will be discussed in this review in order to assist you in selecting the best solutions for getting perfectly defined and long-lasting eyebrows.
Eyebrow and eyelash paint "Lash Color"
There are five brow paint shades in the palette:
- black;
- graphite;
- blue-black;
- brown;
- light brown.
As there are only two of my eyebrows left for the five colors, I opted to test the paints on my naturally light brown hair. In retrospect, I will state that the idea was not the best because the dye just layers on the natural color of the hair rather than interfering with its internal pigmentation. This was evident when testing a light brown shade, which resulted in darker hair than before coloring.
In conclusion, light brown color works best on fair hair because it will be the perfect shade for you. The color will be a typical shade of brown on light brown hair.
Paint application:
- Mix the dye with the oxide in a ratio of 1:1;
- Stir until a homogeneous creamy consistency;
- Apply to the eyebrows and wait from 7 to 15 minutes depending on the desired color intensity.
Wearing gloves is important when handling dyes. First of all, their chemical makeup is still present, and secondly, you won’t get dirty this way. And lastly, based on my personal experience, I would like to point out how challenging it is to remove nail paint.
The resultant material has absolutely no smell, I can’t help but say. None at all! This is a crucial factor to consider because I recently purchased paint under the Studio brand a few months ago. Therefore, the smell is very noticeable when diluting this dye and completely absent when using Levissim.
I will then attach pictures of the skin and hair swatches. The camera regrettably fails to capture the true richness of the color. All shades are diluted one to one with oxide and maintained for a maximum of fifteen minutes in accordance with the instructions. However, the images clearly show how well the soft oxide 1.8% performs its job.
Shade 7.7 in the final image is the light brown I mentioned earlier. I tried it on my light hair, but to achieve a really light color, I had to leave the paint on for a shorter period of time.
This is the appearance of the paint on the skin; it represents the shadow your eyebrows will have.
After opening the tube, the paint has a one-month shelf life. Many reviews on the Internet claim that girls use the paint for up to a year, but bear in mind that the manufacturer is not liable for the skin’s reaction or coloring results in this instance.
Oxide 1.8%
Levissime oxide has a creamy texture and is conveniently packaged in a bottle with a thin spout. The thick consistency prevents the paint from flowing when applied to lashes or eyebrows, and the creamy texture makes it easier for the oxide to adhere to the helmet. All of this is precisely blended with a brush alone, eliminating the need for additional tools like a mixer.
One notable distinction from other brands is the 1.8% oxide concentration. This indicates that 1.8% hydrogen peroxide is used by the developer to initiate the coloring reaction.
Oxides can range from 1.8 to 12% in general, but the most common amounts for eyebrows are 3, 6, or 1.8%. The latter are the mildest because they preserve the natural pigmentation of the hair.
The oxide is comfortable to use and doesn’t have a strong smell.
Protective cream for skin "Lash Protector"
Something intriguing that I haven’t seen from any other brand. Naturally, it’s possible that my search was inadequate; therefore, if you are aware of any comparable products made by other companies, kindly inform me in the comments section.
The cream’s function is to shield the skin surrounding the eyes and brows from paint while coloring.
Use:
- Apply a small amount of cream to the skin around the eyes or eyebrows;
- Distribute in a thin layer, without touching the hairs, but as close to their roots as possible.
After coloring, use a cotton pad soaked in water to remove the leftover cream and dye.
The smell of the cream is distinct but pleasant. I’m not sure if this formulation—a professional scent connected to salons for beauty, professional hair masks, and shampoos—will make sense.
Remover for removing dye from skin “Color Remover”
A common tool used by eyebrow artists is a remover to get rid of skin dye. Used when the dye has seeped into the skin surrounding the dyed area or has exceeded the intended contour.
Use:
- Wet a cotton pad or stick;
- Wipe the area where you need to remove the dye with rubbing movements;
- Continue until the dye has completely disappeared or the desired result is achieved.
Liquid consistency is the remover.
Smell: The traditional remover smell is there, but you can also detect the scent. Subsequently, I discovered that the composition contained a natural scent.
Eye brow cleanser eye makeup remover
A product that gets skin and hair ready for coloring. can be applied to eyelashes, eyebrows, and surrounding skin. Even stubborn makeup can be removed with ease by using this lotion, which doesn’t dry out the skin or harm hair follicle structure.
You must use water to remove the lotion after removing makeup because its effect is quite similar to that of micellar water.
Aroma: strong and pleasing. Has a sweet, fruity scent, similar to berries.
Use:
- Apply a small amount of the product to a cotton pad;
- Remove makeup from eyebrows or eyes.
A few drops of the product are all that are required for a single makeup removal procedure, indicating its low consumption rate.
5 facts about Levissime
- Products for dyeing eyebrows and eyelashes are available for sale – in offline and online stores, marketplaces. At the same time, the company is focused on professionals – eyebrow artists, makeup artists and lashmakers, and the manufacturer recommends to carry out self-coloring without basic skills and knowledge with extreme caution and strictly according to the instructions – without experiments;
- Even despite the low, gentle oxide, eyebrow paints "Lash Color" also dye the skin. The paint lasts differently depending on the skin type – the longest on dry and normal skin, less on oily skin. It lasts up to 6 weeks on hairs;
- In foreign countries, in addition to 1.8% oxide, 3% and 6% are also available. You won"t be able to buy high oxidants of the Levissime brand in Russia, but some online stores don"t mind and they sell 1.8% oxide under the guise of 6% – be careful;
- Levisime is not only eyebrow paints and accessories for them. The brand offers several lines of cosmetics for home care – for problem skin, for example, prone to rosacea, as well as for mature skin and body care products;
- Immediately after dyeing, some shades may give a yellowish, reddish or green tint. Don"t panic – within 30-120 minutes the color will stabilize and turn out exactly as you imagined it. This is what I did with shade 7.7, which after applying to light hair was a distinct green color. As you can see, after stabilization, the green shade disappeared, leaving only the main brown.
If you prefer gentle coloring and are concerned about the condition of your hair, you should definitely check out the Levissime brand. Have I used Levissime eyelash and eyebrow dye before? Post a comment about your experience or pose a query!
