- All about stamping – why stamping doesn"t work, mistakes when performing stamping
Before you start
- Follow the instructions. If the description of the steps indicates that you need black dye, do not neglect this recommendation. Otherwise, the result may not meet expectations;
- Prepare all the materials in advance, so that they are at hand during the work;
- Do not rush with the finishing coat – a poorly dried pattern will smear.
Tools and materials
- Stencil – it will help to create a beautiful pattern. Choose a plate of trusted manufacturers – Irisk, Moyoulondon. Their tiles have high-quality embossing;
- Stamp, better silicone;
- Scraper – usually comes with the stamp. If you don"t have a special device for removing excess dye, use a plastic card;
- Base and top. Choose a base and top coat of the same brand so that the adhesion is strong.
Information regarding stamping supplies and tools:
Each technique’s additional products are listed in the description section below.
With pigments
Pigmented pattern
- Black stamping paint;
- Any pigment you like – neon, rubbing.
Apply the base and colored gel polish before beginning the design, and let each layer dry twice as long as usual:
- Remove the stickiness;
- Fill the cavity of the pattern on the stencil with black paint and transfer it to the nail using a stamp;
- Rub the powder into the wet paint with light trampling movements. If it lies outside the pattern, after drying it can be removed with a dry cloth or brush;
- Wait 30-60 seconds., Make sure that the paint is completely dry and remove excess pigment with a dry cloth;
- Apply the top and dry it in the lamp.
Dry stamping
- Brush for working with pigment ruNail, Finest Kolinsky NDO №6;
- Finely ground pigment, for example, like CND, Additives Medium Green;
- Stamp with stickiness, that is, not buffed after purchase.
- Apply the base and color. Dry each product separately;
- Without removing the sticky layer, start transferring the design – fill the embossing of the stencil with dry pigment, grab it with a stamp and print it on the nail;
- Wait until the pigment grabs with a sticky layer and the cut design with a finish;
- Send your nails to the lamp for 30 seconds in LED and for 120 seconds in UV.
Neon gradient
- Black gel polish and white paint polish;
- Neon powder of 2-3 colors from your favorite brands, such as TNL or Patrisa Nail.
- Pigment brush, such as GMA No. 6 from the ruNail brand.
Depending on your tastes, pigment can be used to create both regular colored and neon effects.
- Prepare the background with gel polish, having previously applied the base;
- Conventionally divide the working surface of the stamp into 2-3 parts, depending on the amount of pigmented powders, and apply your pigment to each of them;
- Smudge the junction of the shades with a brush to create a smooth transition;
- Fill the stencil engraving with varnish-paint, scrape off the excess and stamp the design with the prepared neon stamp;
- Stamp the ornament on the nail;
- Dry in the open air, cover with a finish and send to the dryer.
Gradient
Smooth transition ornament
- Stamping lacquer for two shades;
- White gel polish.
Method of action:
- Create a white background, having previously applied the base;
- Remove the sticky layer;
- Choose a suitable ornament on a stencil plate and fill it with paints;
- Spearize the drawing in parallel to the application of the dye;
- Print the pattern on the nail plate, the cut with the top and dry in the lamp.
The disappearing gradient
- Gel polish of two shades and stamping paint in the tone of one of them;
- Fan brush for shading, for example, a fan brush from TNL No. 1.
Prior to beginning work, cut your nails with a base and let them dry under a lamp. Only then can you move on to creating the design.
- Fill the growth zone of the cuticle with varnish of one of the colors by about 1/3 from the entire area of the nail plate;
- Take the second gel polish and cover the remaining area with it end-to-end with the first;
- Use a fan brush to stretch the color from the cuticle to the center with light movements;
- Send the gradient into the lamp for polymerization, then remove the sticky layer;
- Fill the selected pattern on the stencil with stamping varnish-paint and transfer it to the nail using a stamp;
- After the paint dries in the open air, cover the resulting decor with a finish and fix it by polymerization in the lamp.
With an air puffing sponge
- Air puffing sponge, for example, from the IRISK brand;
- Air puffing paint in the color of the stamping varnish-paint – Patrisa Nail, IRISK.
Method:
- Cover the nails with a base and color, polymerizing each layer separately;
- Remove the stickiness;
- Transfer the pattern from the stencil plate to the nail;
- Place 2-3 drops of airpuff paint on a palette or foil and apply a small amount to a sponge;
- With light movements, drive the paint with a sponge from the free edge towards the center of the nail plate;
- As soon as the gradient is ready, dry it in the lamp;
- Apply the top coat and dry again.
Veil effect
To finish this, you’ll need:
- Gel polish and black stamping paint;
- Liquid tape;
- A mixing palette or a piece of foil.
- On the palette, mix 5-6 drops of top coat and 2-3 drops of black gel polish. If desired, you can add dye, then the veil will be thicker;
- Apply the base coat to the nails and polymerize it in the lamp;
- Cover the nails where the veil is planned with the resulting mixture of polish and top coat. Dry the layer in a UV or LED lamp;
- Cover the skin around the nail plate with liquid tape;
- Fill the stencil pattern with black stamping paint and stamp it on the veiled nails using a stamp;
- Wait for the paint to harden, remove the liquid tape film and cover the design with a top coat.
Metallized casting
- Foil for design. Prepare as many pieces as the number of nails to be decorated with casting. Cut each piece about twice as big as the nail plate;
- Black paint for stamping.
Method:
- Prepare a background of base and color with separate drying of both layers;
- Wipe the pieces of foil from the inside with a degreaser. The side with a less pronounced metallic shine is considered the inside;
- Use varnish-paint to print the pattern on the nail plate;
- Without waiting for drying, take the foil and press it to the design with light stamping movements;
- Secure the result with a top and dry in a lamp.
On a matte background
Get ready two tops (matte and glossy):
- Make a standard coating with gel polish: base, gel polish, matte top;
- Apply glossy top coat to the stencil plate, removing excess with a scraper;
- Transfer the glossy pattern with a stamp and dry in LED for 30 sec. or 120 sec. in UV;
- After polymerization, remove stickiness.
Unusual use of stamping tools in manicure
Popular designs can also be made more easily with a stamp and scraper for stamping, in addition to classic designs that can be made using the techniques previously discussed.
Trendy speckled manicure
If you keep up with trends, you have undoubtedly noticed the recent popularity of the speckled manicure. Of course, a thin brush can be used to apply chaotic dots, but if you use a stamp, you can make any necessary corrections to the design before applying it to the nail.
- Degrease the stamping stamp and wait until it dries completely;
- Use a thin brush to put chaotic dots on the stamp with stamping paint. The dots can be of different sizes, with uneven borders – it all depends on the desired result;
- If you need to correct something, use a small piece of tape. The adhesive part of the tape collects paint well and makes the design clean;
- Print the design on the nail and fix it with a top coat.
"Blots"
Gel polish blots are an additional choice. They can be combined with another design or used as a stand-alone piece of décor.
- Apply a strip of any gel polish to a degreased dry stamp;
- Gradually, the gel polish will spread, forming an uneven blot;
- Transfer the design to the prepared background.
"Strokes"
Paint and a stamping stamp can also be used to create artistic designs with strokes.
- Apply an even stroke to the degreased surface of the scraper with stamping paint;
- Print the resulting design on the stamp. If necessary, use a scraper to correct the side edges of the printed stroke;
- If desired, you can apply several chaotic strokes – this will make the design even more interesting;
- Transfer the resulting design to the nail.
Common mistakes
- The coating quickly peeled off, not holding out for the required period of 2-3 weeks. One of the reasons for this behavior of gel polish can be the frequent erasure of an unsuccessful drawing. Do not remove unsuccessful stamping more than once, as nail polish remover gradually dissolves the coating and worsens adhesion;
- The patterns are not bright, dull, blurry. Pay attention to the brand of stamping dye. The products of some manufacturers show up well only on a light background. Before applying, do a color proof on a black background, for example, on a tip covered with varnish;
- The pattern does not print at all. Make sure that the protective film is removed from the plate and the stamp pad is polished with a buff;
- The pattern is not transferred completely. Check if you are holding the scraper correctly. The scraper should be adjacent to the plate at an angle of 45 degrees – this allows you to fill all the cavities of the engraving.
A creative design will undoubtedly succeed if the application technology is used as directed and premium materials are used. Are there any remaining questions? Post a question in the comments section.
