What are eyebrow stamps and how are they used

With their ability to instantly transform a look, perfectly shaped brows have become the focal point of beauty routines. However, not everyone finds it simple to use conventional techniques like pencils or gels to create that perfect shape.

This is the use of eyebrow stamps. With their quick and easy design, these stamps make it easy to achieve the ideal eyebrow shape in a matter of seconds. For those who are trying to save time or who have trouble drawing symmetrical brows, they are an absolute game-changer.

This post will explain what eyebrow stamps are, explain their operation, and discuss why they might be a great addition to your cosmetics collection.

Eyebrow Stamp How to Use
An eyebrow stamp is a tool designed to shape and fill in eyebrows quickly. Choose a stencil that matches your desired eyebrow shape, press the stamp onto the product, and then press it onto your brow for an even application.
It comes with a stencil and a stamp with pre-loaded brow powder. Adjust the stencil to match your natural brow arch, and repeat on the other side.

What is an eyebrow stamp, types

An eyebrow stamp is a device consisting of a sponge applicator and a plastic base that imprints pigment on skin using a template to quickly create flawless eyebrows.

Giving a more exact definition is challenging because manufacturers currently provide two different types of stamps with varying purposes.

What kinds of stamps are available?

  • A plastic sponge template in the shape of an eyebrow and shadows that come with it;
  • A cylindrical tube with an applicator soaked in pigment.

While they are both eyebrow stamps, their primary purposes are entirely different. Using both types is explained right below.

First-type stamps first became available a long time ago, primarily because of Aliexpress. A set of shadow paint and a plastic template shaped like an eyebrow have been released by Chinese manufacturers.

The shapes of the eyebrows, or the actual shape of the template, dictated the varieties:

  • Straight;
  • Curved;
  • Arched.

This summer, novelty stamps in the second category became increasingly popular. In 2020, the American company Mad Luvv introduced a brand-new stamp design. Social networks served a purpose, even though not everyone initially valued their creation. There are now videos on Tik Tok showing girls drawing precise, well-groomed eyebrows in a matter of seconds.

Benefits of eyebrow tattoos:

  • Ease of use. Even beginners can handle the product, while getting evenly curved eyebrows of the correct shape;
  • Quick result. Of course, it is not 3 seconds, as some manufacturers write, but still fast;
  • There is a choice of shapes. Both types of stamps are offered with different templates, that is, every girl can choose a shape for herself. The exception is non-standard eyebrows;
  • Everything you need is included. Stamps are supplied with a coloring pigment in the form of a palette of shadows or a sponge soaked in dye.

Drawbacks:

  • If the eyebrows are sparse, then the result of stamping will be striking – the paint stands out strongly on empty skin. In such cases, it is better to draw the eyebrows with a pencil, imitating hairs – it will turn out more natural;
  • It is also not suitable for thick, coarse hairs. It is difficult to print pigment on hard, frequently growing hairs. You have to press the applicator hard;
  • The quality of the pigment may be low. Of course, everything depends on the specific product, but often there are stamps with shadows in the kit that do not give any result at all. This is a consequence of poor pigmentation and the wrong consistency of the shadows.

How to use an eyebrow stamp

Stamp with shadows

Let’s begin with the stamps that have shadows, which are the first kind. Regardless of the manufacturer, every kit comes with:

  • The stamp itself – a plastic handle with a spongy "eyebrow". There are two of them in the kit – for the left and right eyebrows;
  • Eyebrow shadows.
  • Round brush;
  • Gel, soap or other styling product.

Apply:

  • Cleanse the eyebrows with micellar water or a special lotion;
  • Comb the hairs with a brush, laying them in the desired direction. If necessary, make a correction – with tweezers, thread, wax;
  • Spray the brush with water or makeup fixative and lightly moisten the hairs with it;

  • Press the stamp to the shadows to pick up the powder pigment. Manufacturers claim that it is enough to press the stamp once to the shadows and you can transfer the drawing to the face. In practice, sometimes you need to rub the template on the shadows to pick up a sufficient amount of shadows;
  • Print the pigment. It is important that the imprint matches the borders of your natural eyebrows as closely as possible;
  • Use the brush to blend the beginning of the brow arch if necessary to give it a natural look;
  • Wait a couple of minutes and carefully, barely touching the hairs and skin, fix the result with soap or gel.

If you have accidentally drawn outside of the outline, use a moist cotton swab to make the necessary corrections.

What issues might arise from using this stamp?

  • Pigment. Sometimes two problems arise here – it doesn"t print at all or the shadows are so saturated that you get bright "Brezhnev" eyebrows. The first problem is difficult to fix – the shadows are of low quality, in the second case, take less pigment, and after printing, blend well with a dry brush;
  • Durability. Since the pigment applied is dry, it tends to crumble during the day. A fixing agent for eyebrow styling will help to fix the situation, but the final durability depends on the specific product;
  • Flatness. The forehead has curves, but the stamp on the plastic handle does not. It turns out that when printing, the sponge will not be able to bend to the shape of the frontal lobe and will ultimately leave color only on the most convex part of the brow arch. This can be fixed by printing the stamp by rolling – visually try on the place of the future print, apply the sponge to the beginning of the eyebrow and carefully “roll” horizontally to the tip.

Stamp applicator

A tiny plastic cylinder with a sponge at the end is called a stamp applicator. The sponge has already been loaded with moisture-resistant eyebrow lipstick. Right now, this is the stamp type that is most often used.

Regarding the process, the manufacturer provides:

  • The stamp itself;
  • A set of plastic templates.

The forms and curves of the templates vary.

  • Comb the hairs with a brush;
  • Select a stencil and apply it to the eyebrows so that the natural arch fits into the slot on the template as much as possible;
  • With short, abrupt, moderately strong movements, press the applicator to the slot on the stencil, moving along the eyebrow;

  • When there is enough pigment, remove the stencil;
  • The hairs can be combed again for even distribution of lipstick, and also fixed with gel or soap;
  • If necessary, the border of the eyebrow arch can be adjusted with a damp cotton swab.

Because the stamp-applicator does not cover the entire eyebrow arch at once, its primary benefit is that it enables you to:

  • Work on the eyebrow precisely and neatly;
  • Get natural eyebrows – in different parts you can apply different amounts of pigment, creating a smooth gradient transition.

Regular micellar water or an alternative makeup remover can be used to remove pigments from both lipstick and shadows.

Eyebrow stamp manufacturers

FARRES cosmetics, Eybrow stamp

FARRES cosmetics offers BeautyStamp as both the stamp and a set of shadows. There are six shadow shades and two shapes. The medium arch and full arch have different curvatures.

Shades:

  • Light brown;
  • Grey-brown;
  • Brown-gray;
  • Brown;
  • Red-brown;
  • Dark brown.

The stamps are too long for most girls, and the shadows are intensely pigmented and long-lasting. As some customers have discovered, you can modify the shape by removing the foam insert and cutting it with scissors. If you’d rather not finish anything, focus on other items.

Huad Beauty does have a product with a similar look and set of features, but the company has taken it out of its lineup. Instead, you can find Chinese copies of the product in stores, Second 3 brow being the most well-liked of them.

Although Aliexpress also has a large selection of these stamps, based on the actions of well-known brands, these stamps seem to be a thing of the past.

Additionally, as the first "generation" of stamps gradually disappears from the shelves, a new version and the second category of stamps-applicators take their place. The MadLuvv brand is the primary manufacturer and innovator of the new product.

MadLuvv, Brow Stamp Kit

The seven shades of the moisture-resistant, soaked in eyebrow pomade stamp-applicator are as follows:

  1. Blonde;
  2. Dark gray;
  3. Soft brown;
  4. Medium brown;
  5. Brunette;
  6. Dark brown;
  7. Almost black.

The set comes with a brush, five stencils, a cosmetic bag for storage, and the stamp itself in the chosen shade. The MadLuvv pigment does not roll or flow and lasts well all day. The inability to purchase it in Russia is the primary disadvantage. As of right now, only the brand’s official store is selling.

Chinese producers are also not sleeping; AliExpress is literally flooded with various MadLuvv-like stamp variants. When purchasing products from China, make sure to test them on your elbow bend first. Apply a generous amount of the stamp’s pigment there, and then let them sit for a few hours or even overnight. Use the stamp as intended as long as there are no adverse reactions, such as burning, redness, or itching.
