Makeup for enlarging eyes: photo instructions
Apply a thin layer of eyeshadow base to begin your eye makeup routine. Using your fingertips, evenly apply it to the whole lid that can be moved, and then blend it into the brows. Use a fluffy brush to apply translucent powder or flesh-colored shadows over the eyelids if the base is excessively sticky, as this can hinder the blending process.
Darken the eye’s outer corner. To achieve this, blend matte shadows of a dark shade in the outer corner of the eye, extending them slightly to the orbital line, and blending them toward the temple using a brush with a barrel shape. Starting from the outside, apply this shade to the lower eyelid, filling it in by one third.
After gathering shadows on the brush, take your time transferring them to the eyelid. When there is too much pigment on the brush, it can leave a patch in the shading that is hard to blend into a lovely haze. Thus, wipe the excess with the brush along the back of your hand before blending the shadows.
Gradually increase the color’s intensity by adding shadows. The makeup will appear as tidy and lovely as possible in this way.
Blend the edges of the dark color on the movable eyelid and highlight the orbital line with matte shadows of a shade known as "intermediate" (darker than the skin tone, but lighter than the previous shade), then blend further towards the temple. Use a fluffy natural brush to achieve the softest, smokeiest shading possible. Cover the whole lower eyelid with these shadows.
Shading should be done very widely, both toward the eyebrows and the temples, to give the appearance of larger eyes.
Give the movable eyelid shimmering shadows. This will help enlarge the moveable eyelid visually in addition to adding a healthy sheen to the appearance.
The best way to apply shimmery shadows is to press down on the eyelids to imprint the shadow’s pigment into the skin, as opposed to sliding the brush over the skin. If you feel that the brush application’s intensity is lacking, you can also use your fingertips to add a little shadow.
In this step, you can use multiple colors of shimmery shadows to achieve the most voluminous look.
- Apply lighter shadows to the inner corner of the eye.
- Slightly darker shadows, but with strong shimmer, place in the center of the eyelid.
- Shade even darker shadows, but also shimmery, closer to the outer corner of the eye.
This will facilitate the smoothest possible transition between the lightest shimmery shadows and the darkest matte shadow shade.
The size of the eyes can be greatly increased by lightly drawing on the mucosa. Apply a pink or beige pencil to the entire lower mucous membrane for the eyes. For these purposes, avoid using bright white pencils as they will appear unnatural and will not contribute to the desired effect.
Long eyelashes also make your eyes appear bigger, so start painting them from the roots and, if you’d like, add a few lashes hanging over the corners of your eyes. Make sure to use Kerler first if your lashes are straight.

When applying makeup, concentrate on methods that accentuate and brighten your eyes to create the illusion of larger eyes. To open up the area, start by applying a light-colored eyeshadow to your inner corners and eyelids. Apply eyeliner to define your eyes, but make sure the line is thin and extends just past the outer corners to give your eyes a wider appearance. Your eyes will appear even more lifted and opened if you curl your lashes and use mascara, especially on the outer lashes. Lastly, to make your eyes appear bigger and more awake, think about drawing a white or nude pencil on your lower waterline.
Makeup for visual eye enlargement: tips
The first factor that causes the eyes to shrink is the swelling of the lower eyelids. As a result, we advise using specialty patches for the eye area first thing in the morning. You can use ice cubes if you don’t have any on hand. They will aid in de-swelling and hydrating the skin in this vulnerable region.
Dark circles under the eyes are another common issue that undoubtedly gives the appearance of smaller eyes. Using a highlighting concealer can assist in eliminating them. Select a moisturizing concealer that matches the tone of your skin. The composition’s yellow pigment will effectively camouflage and counteract the "blueness." Use highlighting powder to set the concealer for maximum impact. Keep in mind that you should apply concealer in the form of a "triangle." In our beauty dossier, we went into further detail on selecting and applying concealer.
Another crucial component of the daily beauty routine is eyebrow makeup. For some, drawing them completely is necessary, while for others, simply "combing" them with gel will do. The most important thing is that the eyebrows are tidy and well-groomed; well-shaped eyebrows will make the appearance appear much more open.
Highlighting the waterline is one of the key strategies for making your eyes appear larger. You’ll need a light eyeliner for this. Light peach or beige hues are preferred because they will appear the most natural. You can visually enlarge your eyes and counteract the redness of the waterline by lining them in this manner.
You cannot wear makeup that makes your eyes appear larger without a curler. To give your eyes a more "wide-open" appearance, curl your lashes before applying lengthening mascara. The lower eyelashes should not be overlooked; they can be sparingly painted. However, to prevent the "panda effect," use waterproof formulas.
- In evening makeup, don"t be afraid to use false eyelashes (we wrote about how to do it correctly here). For a natural, but at the same time bright image, separate bunches are suitable, which you can glue to the center of the lower eyelashes. This way you will create the effect of large "doll eyes".
Don’t forget to highlight the corners of your eyes with some sparkle. You’ll need light-colored, shimmering shadows for this. Use a cream highlighter (with a warm or cool undertone) in the outer corner of your eyes and set it in place with a powder-textured product, like glitter shadows, for the brightest look.
If you enjoy using arrows in your eye makeup, draw the arrow as close to the lashes as you can to make them appear larger. Steer clear of arrows that are bulky and heavy-looking. We’ll go into further detail about the kinds of arrows that can be used to make the eyes larger below.
Taking care of the eyelid crease is an essential step in applying eye makeup. By doing this, you can create a fake shadow that will make the eyes appear larger and more intense. Select matte shadows that complement your skin tone by a few shades.
In order to visually "whiten" the white of the eye and instantly brighten your appearance, use a blue liner or a thin arrow drawn with azure shadows.

Arrows that visually enlarge the eyes
A very thin arrow drawn along the lash line, with tails that do not extend past the eyelid, is the best basic option.
Draw a thin arrow from the inner corner of the eye and gradually thicken it towards the outer corner if you still like the cat-eye effect. Drawing a long tail will only make the eye appear narrower.
Make sure your arrows are not overly thick. The arrow should be as thin and tidy as possible in the middle of the lash line. If not, your eyes will become overly round and have a dark outline around the edges.
Don’t use obvious arrows to draw attention to the lower lashes. If you choose to line your lower eyelid, make sure the line is well-blended and appears somewhat hazy.
Draw two arrows if you are prepared to conduct experiments. Using a black or brown pencil, draw the main arrow along the upper lid. Make a second arrow on the lower lid (you can use a gray or white pencil for both arrows). These arrows effectively enlarge and maximize the expressiveness of their eyes.
